Hi! Sophie here.
Who am I? Just a girl with a dog. Someone lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful Hawkesbury & Blue Mountains, surrounded by bush and bird calls, with no noise of passing traffic and no city lights to hide the stars. Someone with a nature loving mother (Hi Mum!) who had many the rant over supporting the little guy, too much plastic packaging and not enough recycling - you know the one, the lady at the office who collects everyone's lunch scraps for the chooks (and the wild? guinea pig population that keep the grass short). What can I say, it rubbed off, and here I am.
But why do I do this? Remember when COVID first hit, and everyone declared that our lives and the way we do things was gone for good- from now on we were going to smile at our neighbours, shop local, shop home-made and ONLY Australian made? That we were going to be so much more appreciative of our lives, our abundance of domestic resources and native treasures? Well, I didn't see that happen- not as much as I'd have liked anyway (in some ways I feel it made society more selfish).. Plus there are so many family run small businesses that have been tremendously affected and are completely relying on online sales. So all I want to do is deliver to you like-minded people a monthly gift that promotes Australian made, small business products that feel good and taste good, but don't hurt this beautiful land we're lucky enough to live on.
We want to encourage everyone to join us on a more sustainable journey, so soon we'll be launching a one off gift for Mum's & Bubs, and eventually we might even let the boys get in on the action. But for now, it's women supporting women and when I get sick of packing boxes I hope to employ mothers that need work during school hours, that can take the day off for their kid with a runny nose, or an athletics carnival, and not feel guilty or fearful about it. I also come from the disability sector and would love to offer employment opportunities to those living with a disability. That's all a bit of a dream for the future; at the moment it's just me, Mackie (my four legged furry love of my life) and Mum cheering from the sidelines.
That's really all there is to it, but if you want to know anything else, I'm only a click away.
Namaste
P.S. Here's some pooch pics, just because!
